For 35 Years Apples and Snakes have been showcasing live poetry and spoken word throughout England. The early beginnings were at the Adams Arms pub in 1982, and since then they've provided a vehicle for up and coming poets to share there work and to expose poetry and spoken word to a wider audience, in their words, "creating artistic and social change through the power of the spoken word." 2018 celebrates their 35th Anniversary, and Apples and Snakes will be bringing poets and spoken word artists to Southampton bimonthly with shows currently planned in February, May and June.
451 City will bring a mix of stand up poetry, performed literature, and spoken word theatre. Tickets are available from the NST website and are £5 per person. To keep up to date with what is happening, head over to the Apples and Snakes Facebook page for more details about who will be performing as the event gets closer.
