Langton's is the oldest independent bookshop in Twickenham and has been trading for the last sixty years. The manager, Chris, explained what they have to do to stay ahead of the game and compete with online booksellers.

Langton's Shop Front
They have a large children's section, filled with both books and toys. Get them while they're young, and they'll never lose the habit of losing themselves in books. If they don't want to do their own reading, or if they're too young to read, there are also regular story telling sessions.

The Children's Section
Langtons's carries a good range of local history books and books by local authors. The shop is home to several reading, writing and poetry groups as well as holding occasional book signings and launches. With these kinds of facilities they are strongly supported by local people, who must really appreciate the next day ordering service. You generally can't get books that quickly through our postal service.

Local Interest Books
At the back of the shop you'll find an Organic Café offering soups, salads, sandwiches, cakes, breakfasts, hot and cold drinks and smoothies. The café area is comfortably appointed with soft leather sofas and free Wi-Fi. If only all book shops could be like Langton's - we can dream.
