After spending four months backpacking through South and Central America, I was looking pretty shabby when I arrived in London. My highlights had grown out and my hair had no style whatsoever. I decided to be a human guinea pig for a hairdresser trainee. Brave, some would say, but for me, things couldn't get much worse for my uncontrollable mane.
I arrived at PR Hair in Chiswick and was treated like an absolute queen from the get go. The young trainee was accompanied by a professional hairstylist the entire session, and he asked me what exactly I was after. I was pretty open, but said I would like to go lighter overall.
Together, my wonder-workers spent three hours transforming me from a dull mousy brown to a sun-kissed Goddess (well, just the hair part at least). They served me tea and biscuits, gave me endless magazines and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. The best part was the demonstration massage once the colour was washed off, whereby the teacher showed his pupil the best techniques to use. Heaven. As I walked out of the salon feeling a million dollars I could barely believe the experience had been free.
