Shakespeare's magical tale of the fairies comes alive
He may have died almost four centuries ago, but William Shakespeare is still able to pack them in.

The Bard, who put down his quill for the final time in 1616, wrote numerous classic plays in his time, none more so than the fantasy comedy tale that is A Midsummer Night's Dream.

And audiences in Tamworth, Staffordshire, were treated to a special outdoor performance of the play while enjoying a summer evening picnicking in the park.

More than 200 people gathered in the picturesque Tamworth Castle Grounds on Saturday 11 July to watch as Quantum Theatre presented their performance of A Midsummer Night's Dream.

The special show formed part of Tamworth Borough Council's packed calendar of events this summer.

The sun smiled on Tamworth's theatre lovers as Shakespeare's popular play of love and intrigue went down well with the crowds, ranging from families with young children to pensioners, many of whom brought picnics for the evening.

But if you missed Quantum Theatre's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream they will be back on Sunday 16 August when they perform the children's classic The Tales of Peter Rabbit and Benjamin Bunny, this time in Tamworth's Dosthill Park .

Beatrix Potter's classic characters will be brought to life from 1.30pm, with gates open 45 minutes prior to the performance. Audiences are invited to take their own seating and picnics, but are asked not to take any glass items or gazebos, while alcohol is also banned on site.
